Commercial real estate in Manhattan as viewed from the sculpture garden at the Museum of Modern Art.Real estate, development and architecture are always competitive, but now the marketplace is even more complex thanks increased competition for your audience's attention. Cutting through the clutter presents a challenge for architects, developers and brokers. I can help.

My experience as a real estate reporter (read my reporting here), in-house marketing pro gives me an edge. I understand your industry and the trends driving it. And that means I get better results.

But don’t take my word for it. Here's what other folks have to say about working with me:

“When our internal team lacked capacity to write an authored article for a major development magazine, Margot capably stepped in and took on the assignment. She delivered a solid draft that successfully synthesized her personal interviews, review of numerous documents and additional research. And she completed the assignment within an extremely tight deadline. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again or recommend her to others seeking a skilled writer who understands the complexities of architecture, development and urban design.”

Margot's CRE chops

snappy headshot of The Word Factory's founder, Margot LesterI've been covering trends in architecture, development and commercial real estate since 1993. My analysis and reporting have been featured in local, regional and national newspapers and magazines such as Urban Land, Architect and Multifamily Executive. From 1998-2016, I analyzed and covered office deal flow and trends in the highly competitive Southern California market for the Los Angeles Business Journal. I've authored series on topics such as affordable housing finance, rebuilding New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and buying real estate — from office space to private islands. Other creative projects include advertising, marketing and promotional materials for agents and developers. My experience gives me unique insight into helping architects, brokers and developers promote properties, projects--and themselves.
