Any day is a good day to advocate for the protection of sharks and rays! I'm part of the American Zoological Association's SAFE Shark & Ray Messaging Group, which develops a Shark & Ray Awareness Day Toolkit each year for aquariums, zoos and science centers to share with visitors.
I developed an activity to help young people advocate for sharks. It includes an easy-to-use writing strategy you can use to create your own personal message in support of these crucial and endangered members of our animal family. It's been included three years in a row! I'm pleased as all get out about that since most of the activities are science-based (for good reason) or "manipulatives" (a terrible word) like coloring sheets.
