I mentioned a few posts back that we were in the running to present our workshop on social networking and your job search for a job services agency in Detroit. We got the green light yesterday and will be presenting Facebook and Twitter and Blogs, Oh My! Using Social Media to Drive Your Job Search at the FastTrac to the Future event on June 24. The program is a JV between the Kauffman Foundation and New Economy Initiative.

We’re very excited to be a part of this event, and to help folks enhance their job search efforts. Our session will focus a little on the pros and cons of some of the more popular channels, but most of our time will be invested in helping people figure out how to leverage those channels for networking and promotional purposes, and showing them some writing strategies that will enable them to write well in the shortest of short forms. That’s seems to be where people get hung up the most.

We’re grateful to be able to do this work and offer a big tip o’ the hat to Robbie Hardy and Monica Doss – two very old and treasured friends of The Word Factory – for helping us get this gig!
