I've always enjoyed writing profiles of interesting people. I always learn something—not just about them, but about life or business or the sector they work in. It's a fun gig. For the last 10 years or so, I've penned a profile package on the winners of the Emerging Cinematographers Award. It's a fascinating project that always reinvigorates my love for the art form.
One reason the editors keep me coming back is because I'm a good interviewer. (I know this because they and the people I interview tell me!) When you're writing a package, you need a blend of standard questions you ask everyone in hopes of finding a unifying thread that connects the individual narratives and queries specific to each person's personal and professional experience. This is where my Aquarian curiosity serves me well! I love it when an interviewee tells me I've asked a really good question or, especially, one they haven't gotten before.
I also did a Q&A with one of the ECA co-chairs, Eduardo Fierro, SVC, along with a couple other profiles for the front of the book on the pages that follow his.

HMU if you're in the market for a seasoned profile writer! I'd love to help.
