“Here’s my best practice on SEO – just write good shit.”
– Guy Kawasaki, a managing director of Garage Technology Ventures.
I love, love, love this quote! And, naturally, the sentiment behind it.
Too many clients, in search of search engine gold, are obsessed with SEO. Sometimes, to an extent that saps creativity and the human reader experience. That means it can take a little more time to do an SEO project because we have to weave sometimes-unnatural terms into our more organic text.
We spend a lot of time choosing our words, whether those are key words or not, to make sure we’re capturing the client’s product/service/whatever in a way that resonates with target readers. We know that’s why our clients continue to come to us for optimized online content. To put it in Mr. Kawasaki’s terms: we write good shit.
