With our session on social media coming up next week at Fastrac to the Future in Detroit, we've been getting some raised eyebrows from folks who think social media is only "social".

Now, I've already landed one well-paying gig by responding to a Tweet. And we've increased traffic to our website by adding a blog and promoting that on various social media sites. Today, I got a call from someone who read an answer I'd written on Linkedin and wanted to know more. It might not turn into a gig, but I know darn well I never would have been on this person's radar if I hadn't answered that question. Case closed.

Social media works. And if you practice effective channel management, it can turn into paying work for you.
