As we approach the close of the year, here's some seasonal content for ya. Shout out to our local radio station, WCHL, which stepped up after our local papers folded to provide opportunities for local columnists like me all year long. Here are two recent installments.

Refugium: Wintery nature content

My friend and collaborator Geoffrey Neal and I bring the holiday cheer in our December nature column, Refugium. He shares information about some exceptional holly trees on UNC's North Campus (and a low-key nudge to take a self-guided tour). Even if it's cold where you are, winter is a wonderful time to get outside for a closer look at what nature's up to. For my part, I share my winter craft project: Making wreaths from invasive species. It's a win-win because I get free decor and remove over-zealous interlopers from my neighborhood landscape. No glue gun required, so this is also a kid-friendly activity. Read all about it at bit.ly/Refugium_.

South Orange Dispatch: Healthy holiday content

One of my volunteer projects is managing communications for the all-volunteer South Orange Rescue Squad. That includes coordinating (and sometimes penning) the South Orange Dispatch. In this issue, my colleague Marie Rossettie and I share seasonal health and safety tips. Check out our advice at loom.ly/Ux23egM or donate at sors.us/donate!

I also want to take a quick second to wish you peace and good health through the winter holidays and beyond. Thanks for reading.
