I've always teetered on the edge of the music business. I promoted a band in high school, and in college I worked for the university and local promoters as a roadie and hospitality staffer. And back in the late 1990s, I began publishing an email newsletter about local music called The Gig List. It was mostly for my friends till I moved to Los Angeles. Then it went "viral" and suddenly publicists, promoters and bands were sending me show info and asking for reviews. It was another accidental success story. By the time I left L.A., the list had more than 250 subscribers and had spawned a related publication in Boston.

With that background, it's no surprise I was picked to write a feature on "It Might Get Loud" for the International Cinematographer's Guild. Here's the piece: Axe Men. So much fun to report and write!
