When I was a kid, I was horse crazy. I remember my Uncle Bobby teaching me to bet on the "ponies" during the Triple Crown races of the mid- to late-1960s, and feeling like savvy handicapper when my horse paid out a whopping 75 cents and my Uncle Bobby's paid only 25. So it was no surprise to anyone that I would fall utterly in love with Secretariat.
